A stones throw from Reading this "country park" is very popular with walkers and Mums at weekends and during school holidays but still gives up a day list of over sixty and regularly turns up interesting migrants. Of late the previously irregular winter bittern has been recorded every month of the year - a testament to the work of the conservation group! Most locals will park in the car park adjacent to Lavell's. It's a £ a go. It's a quick walk to the Bittern hide but not too far from Teal hide or, when smew or goldeneye are about, the new hide at Sandford. A five minute walk up the Lodden (from Teal hide) takes you to Lea Farm. A members only hide gives views over the recent acquisition You can also park in the official Dinton car park (£1) SU783719 |
