A flood relief channel built at the cost of £83.5 million to shift the seasonal flooding from one side of the Thames to the other. It removed the old settling beds at Slough Sewage farm and has left 250000 trees and gravely islands knee-deep in vegetation! Considered by some as an opportunity missed. Still, it has produced some good passage birds and is a pleasant hour or so walk if you get there before the dogs. Check the log book |
