Work in Progress Feeding on the Mountain Ash, the 15 or so Waxwings added to the usual Saturday trip to Sainsbury's. They allowed close views. I was on my own, with a 300mm f4 lens, for this pic [pre-digiscoping] February 2001 |

Waxwings returned to Bracknell two years later but this time spent time at the centre of a busy roundabout. The light was never very good and this, digiscoped effort, was the best I could get. Food this time - hawthorn February 2003 |

The ususal view is of a screaming bird or birds flying mady somewhere on their way to or from their roost in the Wraysbury/Esher area This was one of a pair looking as though they were nesting in the middle of a Jackdaw colony |

A pretty difficult bird to connect with in Berkshire [Hosehill excepted!] I got this one while doing a BTO wetlands survey. This was the third visit to a site outside Ruscombe [near Twyford]. |

This bird walked to and fro into Berkshire [from Bucks] in October 2000. A greatly underwatched bit of a stream straddling Dorney Common Extremely confiding bird which ignored walkers, birders, photographers and barking dogs |

Windsor park and forest go on forever and some records do appear but there must be loads of good stuff which is never seen. There were two Lesser Spot calling on the day I took this photo ... somewhere around the Ascot gate.
